SiteSpinner V2 allows you to import things into your webpages and treat them as an Object. For example, if you want to import an audio, video, or Flash™ file. Furthermore, other pages from outside our site, or from within our Project can be embed into your page as an iframe.
The Foreign Object Editor is located on the left tool-bar. Use the 'Format' drop-down to choose the type of file you want to embed into your page. Some of the more common Foreign Object types:
Publish File:
This will force the SiteSpinner Publisher to upload a file to your webhost that is not emended anywhere in your Project. For example, if you had an MS Word™ file that you wanted your visitors to be able to download. What you would do is create a link to the file and then upload the file to your webhost. Then, when a visitor to your site wanted to view or download the file, they would simply click the link. Because the file is not actually 'emended' in the page, you need to tell the Publisher to upload the file. To do that you would use the Foreign Object Editor > Publish File, and then find the file using the FilePath button. This creates an invisible Object on your page that you can position anywhere you want. When you Publish your page, the file will be gathered up with the rest of your images and other website objects. Note: this feature only works if you are using the 'Gather' function when Publishing your project. Also note that once you have Published your project once, the file does not need to be uploaded again unless you modify it. That means you can safely delete the Object from your page and save on upload time.
HTML/IFrame:
This feature enables you to embed one webpage into another one. While 'Frames' use to be a popular design technique for websites a while back, iframes are now a more advanced option. Try this simple example: click on the Foreign Object Editor and select iframe from the drop down. Now click the Filepath button and select one of the other pages in this Project and select OK. You should immediately see a window with the content of the other page showing through. Now, if you Preview, be sure to use the Double Red preview arrows to preview the entire Project. It is as simple as that to create an iframe. Now, you don't have to link to another site within your project, you could link to another site altogether. Possibilities for iframe sites include creating interactive photo-albums (don't forget, you can assign special fx attributes to one your embeded iframe pages, such as page transition effects using the Page Editor > Special FX). Flash™:
If you have created a Flash file with another program, embedding your the swf file is easy. Open the Foreign Object Editor and choose Flash from the file type drop-down - the standard flash file format parameters will be entered automatically. Now click the Filepath button to find your file and press OK. You can now position and size your flash file anywhere on your page. Furthermore, the file will be uploaded to your webhost automatically when you Publish (provided you use the 'Gather' option in the Publisher).
Video and Sound/Music:
If you have a video, sound effect, or music file you want to embed into your page, SiteSpinner V2 will endeavour to automatically find the right Parameters to handle the file correctly. Keep in mind that in order for your visitors to see or hear your file, they will need the appropriate 'player' on their system (most systems have these players be default built-in). Open the Foreign Object Editor, select Video or Sound/Music from the file type drop-down and click on Filepath button to find your file. Now position the object where you want the 'player' to be positioned. You can size the player by changing the dimensions of the Object box in the work-window. If you want to embed your audio file into your webpage without a visible player, you might want to use the Page Editor > Music function.
